Info: Quito (Ecuador) Ecuador's capital, Quito, sits at the base of the 2800 meter high Pichincha volcano and is considered one of the most diverse Ecuadorian cities. The historical center is lined with beautifully restored colonial buildings, impressive churches, and cobble stone streets. Not surprisingly the center of Quito is World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The nightlife in Mariscal is quite lively with bars lining the streets, and numerous restaurants offering food from all over the world. Ecuadorian traditions and art can be found in various museums as well as the numerous arts and crafts markets throughout the city.
